Our Mission

Mental Health Providers Unite organizes at the intersections of mental health and injustice to challenge systems of oppression.

Who We Are

We are united social workers, counselors, psychologists, psychotherapists, peer specialists, and case managers. We work in agencies, hospitals, non profits, shelters, and in private practice. We are in your community and we stand in solidarity with resistance against policies and leaders that do not boldly and courageously address the underlying causes of our current systems.  We acknowledge trauma and oppression as a primary source for mental, emotional, and behavioral (MEB) health difficulties. We believe it is imperative to unapologetically fight for and address the mental health needs of our clients, our fellow providers, our leaders, and our community at large.

What We Value

We are guided by the value of self determination for all human beings. We center critical self reflection, mutual support, and intersectional political action to bring about significant change to the field of mental health care. This includes efforts to become aware of our own trauma, our own areas of privilege and oppression, and the ways our training/education has influenced our attitudes about our clients, how we frame their concerns, and the work we do with them.
