Mental Health Worker Support Group

Amidst the larger political struggles, stressors, and fears, we know you are working hard to support your clients. We may feel exhausted, numb, or like we can never do enough. These and other symptoms, affect us collectively. Let's meet these challenges together.

Please join us in a supportive, non-judgmental space where we can come together, share what is up for us, and be there for each other. Each month’s group will include a theme to guide us, space for each person to be heard, and time to receive feedback and support.

These groups are currently on hold for the summer.

In 2018, several Empathy Riot! Core organizers got together with folks from Innovation Law Lab and collaborated to increase access to professional pro-bono mental health evaluations that support asylum seekers. Luckily, this was prior to the current administration’s drastic changes to US asylum policy. We started a pilot project providing mental health evaluations done by mental health provider volunteers to asylum seekers already connected with lawyers, most of whom then won their asylum cases. Since then, we’ve increased our capacity by training an additional pool of volunteers. We are continuing our collaboration with Innovation Law Lab to provide efficient and powerful ways to support asylum seekers. We are committed to using our professional capacity to interrupt injustice and support trauma informed due process in the adversarial political climate.

Do you want to provide evaluations for asylum seekers?

If you’re already trained, contact and identify yourself as available to volunteer.

If you are not yet trained and would like to be, sign up for our newsletter.
